IVF Centre

In its 10 years of  operation, our Centre has been recognized in the greek and international scientific field in both traditional and new methods in ART, as in In vitro fertilization (IVF), Micromanipulation (ICSI), Intrauterine insemination (IUI) and Intrauterine tuboperitoneal insemination (IUTPI). The excellent results of these methods (pregnancy rates 48% for women under 35 and 32% for women over 35 in IVF and 30% in intrauterine tuboperitoneal insemination) are due to perfect team work, knowledge of the latest developments and application of new technologies.

IUI Centre

The World Health Organization (WHO – Cambridge Press 2003) suggests 4 – 6 attempts of inseminations to be performed before moving on to more invasive techniques such as IVF or ICSI, when the fallopian tubes are patent and 1.000.000 spermatozoa are at least present in the prepared sperm. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE – NHS UK, February 2004) also suggests 6 attempts of insemination to be performed in mild male infertility and , in addition, in the unexplained infertility, the larger the volume of inseminate the better the results are. A significant number (50 – 60%) of couples having trouble to conceive, can be successfully treated with insemination before moving on to IVF (Evers JL. Lancet 2002)

Intrauterine Tuboperitoneal Insemination Centre (IUTPI - L. Mamas method)

Intrauterine tuboperitoneal insemination (IUTPI), has been an exclusiveness of our Centre since 2003 and constitutes a new method of insemination in which 10ml of medium culture which includes the spermatozoa, is used for insemination. This volume of inseminate provides sufficient number of spermatozoa in the sites  of fertilization, through the fallopian tubes to the peritoneal cavity and the pouch of Douglas.Fertility and Sterility, March 2006 issue (.pdf)

IVF in natural cycle

or with mild ovarian stimulation for 4 – 5 days of use of hormones. This is about women friendly therapeutic protocol approaching the conventional ones requiring shots for 12 – 24 days only (World Congress on Mild Approaches in Assisted Reproduction, London, April 2008, www.ismaar.org).

Egg Donation

Egg donation program. Egg donation is performed according to the decision of the European Society of  Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the greek legislation covering the selection and the screening of the women donating their oocytes (eggs).

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)

The use of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is a break through of our  Centre in the treatment of women with premature ovarian failure (POF), amenorrhea and elevated FSH and LH. With DHEA therapy,  FSH and LH level drop, menstrual period reappears and couples may conceive naturally or with insemination. A study on the use and results of DHEA have been published in the medical journal Fertility and Sterility, February 2009 issue (.pdf)
