Induction of ovulation 

• Day 2 of the cycle
  Vaginal ultrasound is performed to the female partner as well as blood tests for FSH and E2. Sperm analysis. If the sperm count is low, the sample is cryopreserved and added to the sample received the day of egg collection. A leaflet with the drug list and information is also given.
• Day 2 – 3 of the cycle. Beginning of ovulation induction
  Gonadotrophin injections are administered subcutaneously. The dose is adjusted according to the ultrasound image of the ovaries, the age and weight (BMI) of the female partner. It is advised, that the injections are performed in the evening, following the hormonal results of the blood tests taken in the morning.
• Day 5 of the induction/injections
  Vaginal ultrasound is performed to assess the number and size of the follicles. Blood tests for E2. When all the above parameters are taken into account, the drug dosage may be readjusted.
• Day 6 of the induction
  Assessment of the size of the follicles and the levels of blood E2. Beginning of subcutaneously administration of the antagonist.
• Day 7 of the induction
  Vaginal ultrasound is performed and blood E2 is measured to adjust the drug dosage if necessary. Antibiotics are administered to the male partner (Vibramycin tabl, 100mg, twice daily, after a meal) until the day of egg collection.
• Day 9 of the induction
  Vaginal ultrasound is performed and blood E2 is measured. From Day 9, the couple should abstain from sexual intercourse.
• Day 10 of the induction
  Vaginal ultrasound is performed and blood E2 is measured. Normally, today, induction is completed and around 19.00-20.00  an intramuscular injection of hCG (Pregnyl or Profaci) or Arvecap is administered to the female partner. The couple is then informed about the procedure of egg collection that will take place approximately 34 – 36 hours after the hCG injection.
• Day 11
  No drug administration.
• Day 12. Egg collection
  On the day of egg collection, the wife should be fasting since a mild sedation will be administered. The husband should also be present to produce a semen sample.
• Day 15. 3^rd day embryo transfer
• Day 17. Blastocyst stage embryo transfer (if applied)
• Two weeks later
  Visit at the Unit, examination and pregnancy test.
