He studied Medicine at the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. He served in the Navy. He specialized in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Marika Eliadis (Elena) Hospital, where he received his specialty title. He received further specialization at Hammersmith Hospital, University of London, Department of Human Reproduction. He prepared his doctoral thesis at the University of Athens. In 1995, he received, after examination, the European Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology (Fellow European Board Obstetrics Gynecology, FEBOG)
